ADAPATION. Air compressor from Vigor®
for Tesla S 2013-16 models. It fits pre-facelift vehicles, manufactured until April 2016. The Tesla Parts Catalog no. for this item is 6006403-00-A. Complete with air nipples. But it might be good to bring some extra, plus possibly a hose cutter. The part price at Tesla for the original compressor is NOK 14.200 including VAT.
WARRANTY. There is a 2-year warranty on our Vigor® compressors if the points below are followed:
- Do not replace only the compressor if you have leaks elsewhere in the system. This causes the compressor to run too much (should not go beyond 30s intervals). You risk the engine running hot, and the rotor or ball bearing breaking again after a short time.
- Make sure there is no moisture or dirt in the valve block. This can prevent flow by disrupting electrical signals to the solenoids and changing valve directions. The system is particularly vulnerable when temperatures drop below freezing. The sensor can also fail. Misleading
start/stop signals are thus given to the compressor via the ECU/relay. If you are unsure, replace the valve block as well.
- Understand how to fill the tank with air without Tesla's toolbox. When you loosen the compressor on S 2013-16 models, the tank is emptied of air. Use an external compressor to fill the tank again until the pressure reaches approx. 5-6 bar. Next, try to get the car's compressor to take over, for further filling and adjustment. The air compressor must not run for more than 30 seconds before pausing, so here it is stop-go that counts.
- Always change the relay when you replace the compressor. You can order this along below (original Durakool). If you do not get up the option, we do not have in stock. The relay must then be purchased directly from Tesla (part number 1009577-00-A, price approx. NOK 300/if not in the parts catalogue, consult with them).
